What’s SPDIP Package?
Shrink Plastic Dual In-line Package (SPDIP) is a rectangular plastic package with leads extending from both of its long sides, thus forming two sets of in-line pins. It is actually just a denser or “shrink” version of the PDIP with a 0.07 in (1.778 mm) lead pitch. As such, it provides a smaller package size compared to a standard PDIP for the same lead count.
This package comes in several body widths, i.e., 300mil, 400mil, 600mil and 750mil. Most shrink plastic Dual In-line IC‘s have lead counts that range from 28 to 64. This is a through-hole package, which means that its leads protrude to the other side of the circuit board once mounted. The standard lead pitch is 70mil.
